The Artists
We are in the process of lining up the artists for this year. If you are a Clyde resident and are interested in participating this year, please contact us at emily.landmann@gmail.com. Check back; we'll be adding info right up til ClydeFest. Here's what we have so far:
Bill Schmidt: Bill began his musical journey in grade school in Middleton, WI, taking piano and violin (Suzuki method) lessons. In middle school he added trombone, alto saxophone and guitar. He continued guitar and alto sax into high school, and recorded a Christmas Album 1982. Bill later began playing lead guitar and singing lead vocals in a variety of cover bands including Live Wire, No Dice, The Gators, The Vagrants as well as original songs in the trio DVS. He also served as the co-host of “Acoustic Jam” at the Club de Wash in Madison as well as being the soundman for Willy Porter into the early ‘90’s. Bill is currently looking for area musicians to create music.
Daniel and Judy Gilbertson: Daniel & Judy started singing together at churches and meetings even before they were married. As Daniel puts it, Judy was praying for a husband she could sing with. Her prayer must have been heard because their family has been singing together since their three children were very young. What started as monthly visits to a nursing home grew, quite literally, along with the children. As each learned new instruments they were included so that at full force two guitars, bass, mandolin, piano, drums, percussion and five voices made music together. Their styles of music evolved as the children grew as well. All of the children have now graduated from high school. Because of their school and work, the exact mixture at any performance is hard to predict; however, they desire to share their lively and thoughtful Contemporary Christian music with all who will listen.
Dan Wood: Dan is a gifted musician and songwriter, perhaps best known for his work with the classical guitar.
Ayla Langer: Ayla joined us last year with some piano selections. We're pleased to have her back this year with some new selections from Alicia Keys.
Ted Frank: Ted has been playing keyboards and trombone in bands for 30 years. As a college student he spent 2 years in the UW Jazz Ensemble directed by Richard Davis. Currently Ted is the keyboardist for Screamin’ Gene and the Lake Louie Growlers, which performs around the Spring Green area. Ted tells us that while most of his life has been spent playing rock music, he is currently working on expanding more into jazz to improve both his technique and musical thought processes. This year, he plans to share with us selections from Duke Ellington.
The Clydesdales: This band, consisting of local musicians, will play a variety of rock/country/blues from yesterday and today.
