Town of Clyde

The Town of Clyde, Wisconsin, is nestled in the Otter Creek Valley and perched on the surrounding hillsides overlooking the Wisconsin River.  It is a land of rich farmland and deep, wildlife-filled forests and known throughout the area for its incredible beauty.

Clyde has changed a great deal over the years.  Once a primarily agricultural area with dozens of dairy farms and numerous cheese factories, Clyde has seen many of its traditional farms shut down due to economic reasons.  Today only a handful of dairies remain and all of the cheese factories are closed, with their former facillites converted into homes.

There are a growing number of people converting traditional methods of farming into more focused “niche” markets.  Organic farms, orchards, vegetable production, sheep and goat ranching, and even elk herds can be found through the hills and fields where Holstein cows used to graze.  In addition, the beauty of the area has drawn many people from urban areas to leave behind the city life for some good ol’ country living.
